IT'S THAT TIME AGAIN...!!

2008 DARA BOARD ELECTIONS

The Delaware Amateur Racquetball Association (DARA) Board is comprised of nine members, who serve a term of three years.  Each year one third of the board rotates off to allow for continuity.  The elections are conducted annually, this year's being held at the State Singles  Championship March 29-30th at 1800 Naamans Road in Wilmington.

The objective of DARA is to promote the sport of racquetball and to improve the level of competition in the state of Delaware.  To do this, we strive to attract new players in all skill categories; both male and female; and all age groups.

During this current year, DARA will continue to work toward achieving these goals, with an emphasis on:

Drawing more female competitors

Reaching more Delaware and Out of State Players

Attracting younger players and further developing our Junior program

Now, as with every year, we have 3 open positions on the board.  In order to fill the big shoes of those leaving team members, we're looking for 3 volunteers who:

#1 ... are racquetball enthusiasts... You don't need to be an open player.  You just need to love the sport and want to help promote it.

#2 ... are willing and able to be active volunteers...

...Attend meetings (approximately 6/yr)
...Take ownership for a specific function (ex: tournament draws, by-laws, enlisting new players, coordinating a juniors program etc)
...Assist with planning, preparation and running of DARA's tournaments
...Contribute new ideas and opinions

#3 ... will be ambassadors of the sport by: 

        ...recruiting new DARA members to help keep our organization dynamic 
        ...promoting tournaments to other players 
        ...communicating new ideas from other (out of state) tournaments to the board

Our organization cannot succeed on its own.  We need volunteers who are committed to improving the sport we all love to play.  Volunteer and make a difference!

Seeding Criteria for DARA Tournaments

■ Based on USRA/DARA Ranking points.

■ Maximum points allowed to play in a division: Novice: 80 or one victory, D: 110, C: 140, B: 170 and A: 200. No limit on points in the Open or age divisions.

■ State Champions are allowed to defend their title ONCE, at the Delaware State Championship.

■ Common sense.

■ For doubles events, seeding will be determined by higher individual player.
